Providing Just the Care You Need

Muscle tension is caused by physical and emotional aspects in our daily lives, and massage addresses both. Whether you need to relax and wind down with a gentle, soothing massage treatment; or you need a massage with firm, deep pressure to address tight areas causing pain or discomfort; or you’ve been injured and need treatment work….my goal with each and every client is to provide just what you need at that time so you will leave each session happy, satisfied, feeling better, and glad you came to Olympic Chiropractic for massage therapy.

Massage has many important health benefits, several of which are listed below. In fact, massage can help you maintain physical, mental and emotional well-being, especially when it’s part of your regular wellness routine.

Helath Benefits of Massage

  • Reduces tension and anxiety
  • Calms the nervous system
  • Improves circulation, which delivers oxygen and nutrients to your body’s cells
  • Promotes a sense of relaxation and well-being
  • Prevents and relieves muscle cramps and spasms
  • Helps with pain management

Getting The Most Out Of Your Massage

  • Arrive early and breathe freely, so you start out feeling relaxed. This helps facilitate relaxation in you and your muscles!
  • Communicate with your therapist. Provide accurate health information and let us know what you want from the massage. Speak up during your massage if something’s not to your liking—pressure, speed of movement, room temperature, music volume, etc.
  • Don’t get up off the table too fast following your massage. Sit up slowly so your body has a little time to adjust to the changes brought on by the massage.
  • Drink extra water after a massage. During a massage, toxins are released from your muscles into your bloodstream. If adequate water is not consumed to flush out these toxins, they can re-enter the bloodstream, possibly causing you to feel sick.

Remember, massage has its greatest benefits over time. The therapeutic effects of massage are cumulative, so the more often you receive massage, the better you will feel and the quicker your body will respond. If you are getting massage to address chronic muscular tension or recovery from a soft tissue injury, more than one session is usually needed, so be prepared to schedule several visits.
